Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has announced a 28-man list for Poland, Serbia friendlies

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has announced a 28-man travel roster for the upcoming friendlies against Poland and Serbia. Torino midfielder Joel Obi, Al Ahly striker Junior Ajayi and Lokomotiv Plovdiv new recruit Stephen Eze are called up, while Akwa United Gabriel Okechukwu is handed a first time invite.

Three players that starred at the 2018 African Nations Championship in the shape of goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Stephen Eze and Gabriel Okechukwu will be evaluated by Rohr and his lieutenants during the get-together in Europe.

Rohr has instead listed captain Mikel John Obi, midfielder Ogenyi Onazi and playmaker Victor Moses along with 25 others to battle for shirts.

Spokeman of the Poland Football Association (PFA), Jakub Kwiatkowski, also assured that the
extreme cold weather will not stop the proposed March 23 match.

These are the first two in a list of six friendly encounters planned for the Super Eagles by the Nigeria Football Federation ahead of the 21st FIFA World Cup finals in the Russian Federation this summer.

Fans who want to watch the friendly match between Nigeria and Poland, will have to pay 160 Polish Zloty (equivalent of N17,197.20) to buy a Category A ticket, while Category B and C tickets will cost N12,895.20 and N9,673.20 respectively.

Venue for the Super Eagles friendlies
  • The invited players are expected to arrive camp for the friendlies on Monday, March 19.
  • The Super Eagles will take on Poland on Friday, March 23 at the Wroclaw stadium, which has a capacity of 43,000.
  • Gernot Rohr's men will then take on their Serbian counterparts on Tuesday, March 27 at the The Hive stadium in London.
